A test of time a test of faith What in the world is going on in this place? Is there a Heaven or Is This Just Hell? Sometimes I swear, I just cannot tell. Someone came in with the same illness as me It wasn't what they expected it to be. It was not my illness, you see it was much worse He was diagnosed with the Cancer Curse You See, I just don't think it's fair Why should a 3 year old have to lose his hair? If there is a man upstairs why did he choose this boy? When all this boy ever does is fill the world with joy Every time you see him he'll put a smile on your face I know in my heart right now it's a race Lord don't you take him Do Not call his name He better not leave us We won't be the same Why did you pick him? He's only three Okay lord, I get it You're testing me Just let him beat this Lord let him win When it comes time you can test me Just stop testing him! I am praying to you I've been taught there's a plan Just let him grow up And become a great man. Right now however I am testing you Will you let him stay here at this place? Or Will You Leave me with no faith? That choice is Yours and Yours alone However I am telling you Do Not Call Him Home! Poem By: Jessica Smith 11/20/2007 A Soldier's Day A Soldier's Day Starts Way before Dawn He gets up and dressed and he cleans his guns He was just about to grab an M.R.E. Then a shot rang out and he was called to duty He began walking the streets of Baghdad It was a quiet day at first Then shots rang out They yelled, "Soldier Down" He saw his buddy hit the ground He knelt down beside his friend and said You just get better and I'll find them He loaded his friend into the helicopter He didn't even have a second before it was time To step back on that battle line This is a Thank You to all the Military Men who are out there on the Front Line protecting our Homeland! Poem by: Jessica Smith, 10/16/06 WHAT IS A FRIEND A friend is a person who stands by your side A friend is a person who holds you while you cry A friend is a person you can party with You can tell your friend about your kiss A REAL friend is someone who holds your secrets dear A true friend is always near A friend supports you in every way Knowing that you will be happy someday A friend supports you in good times and bad YOU are the best friend I’ve ever had! Poem By: Jessica Smith ANGELS Have you seen an angel today? I bet you have, you see Today I saw an angel Staring straight back at me A woman in a business suit Stopped to lend a hand She bought a cup of coffee For a frail homeless man He said to me you are an angel Who was sent from above Because you took a second To show me I am loved Have you seen an angel today? I bet you have, you see Today I saw an angel Staring straight back at me A little boy who was playing Saw a girl who had no toys He walked over and gave her one of his The little girl was filled with joy Have you seen an angel today? I bet you have, you see I saw an angel today Staring straight back at me People are all around us Everywhere we look The angels are the ones who cared enough To take a second look Poem By: Jessica Smith March 17, 2006 THAT MAN A man you can talk to no matter the time He's the man that when he first starts talking to you after a long day, you know everything is right with the world He is the guy that some girls say has "extra baggage" I would call it an "extra blessing" He's that man who makes you wake up with a smile on your face because you've been dreaming about him He's the guy you can talk about everything with He can put a huge smile on your face by saying his son is starting to say your name and ask for you He makes you want the summer to come now so you can finally feel his arms around you He's that guy who says I'm sorry twenty times in an email because he missed your call on Christmas Eve because he was getting ready for the trip back home He's the guy that makes you feel completely safe He's the man that makes you feel complete WINTER Stars twinkle above Covering midnight blue skies It is cold and crisp Snow falling on me Kissing my cheeks with coldness Sticking to my tongue Quietly snow falls Drifting down in silence Peacefully falling Winter is here now Snow blankets my world tonight Lying like a sheet A patchwork of trees Dusted with glistening white Sugar-frosted boughs Icicles hang with grace The cold wind blows on my face Wintertime is here Winter Haiku By: Jessica Smith Haiku (noun) : an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually 5, 7, and 5 syllables respectively; also : a poem in this form usually having a seasonal reference |
